Inside the control box of all modern hot tubs & spas is a circuit board which has relays, capacitors, and other fragile parts which may fail in the humidity and heat of a hot tub cabinet. This control box is called a Spa Pack. Packs for spas and hot tubs are designed to keep out moisture while allowing air to circulate through the Spa Pack.
| These circuit boards are basically like any other computer board; they do best in cool dry conditions. The exact opposite of what is found in a Hot Tub Pack. Throw in a power surge, or freezing weather, maybe add a hundred degree day, and finish it off with a garden hose and you can see why hot tub pack boards will fail.

Bee Spas recommends this because these computer boards must be wired correctly or they will be ruined beyond repair. At some point almost all of us have fried boards. It only takes a fraction of a second and it's a five hundred dollar mistake.

It's often hard to tell the difference between a hot tub pack board failure and a top side control failure (a top side control is the button pad). The professional spa repair technician will have several models of top side controls and can hook up another one to test the board. That's something home owners cannot do.
If you do decide to "DIY", great; but please read our FAQ page and understand that we cannot help you re-install a hot tub board over the phone. If you call a professional and he just wants to sell you a new board, tell him about this site. You will save several hundred dollars with Bee Spas.
